Our Story

Why Tiny STEM Lab Exists

Tiny STEM Lab was created to expand access to early STEM learning by introducing young children to hands-on, developmentally grounded innovation experiences. Through interactive challenges, programmable robots, and guided invention projects, children explore, build, and problem-solve in meaningful ways. Our goal is to make early STEM education accessible, engaging, and inspiring for every child and community we serve.

Leadership

Dr. Nneka Ibekwe-Okafor

Founder & CEO

Tiny STEM Lab was founded by Dr. Nneka Ibekwe-Okafor, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin whose work focuses on early childhood development, learning environments, and educational innovation. Her research examines how social and learning environments shape children’s development and how thoughtfully designed experiences can foster curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving from an early age. Through Tiny STEM Lab, she brings research-informed, hands-on STEM experiences directly to young children, bridging developmental science with early innovation. Dr. Ibekwe-Okafor earned her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.Ed. from Harvard University.
